Label: Synergy Records (SYN002)Due to the writing of Landmarq's fourth album, Damian Wilson left the band and was replaced by the fabulous Tracy Hitchings. Previously she's been in bands such as Quasar and Strangers On a Train. She's also currently a part of Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakeman's project called 'Jabberwocky'.
This woman is perhaps the best female vocalist in progressive rock. She's not only doing the vocals on this album, she's also taken part in writing and co-writing the main part of the albums lyrics.

On this album you can hear a revitalised Landmarq with a better and much more appropriate vocalist, and a development in the song writing since the previous album 'The Vision Pit'. Musically Landmarq is reminiscent to keyboard dominated, symphonic neo-prog bands such as IQ, Marillion, Pallas and Pendragon with an 80's sound to it. There's also traces of Camel, Genesis and Pink Floyd influences.
- Kenny Dorham Quintet is a jazz studio album by trumpeter Kenny Dorham. It was his debut album as a leader and was released in 1953, on the Debut label as.

Sonny Boy Williamson, Willie Love - Clownin' With The World Recorded 1951-1954 (1993)EAC Rip FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 198 MB MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 104 MB Covers - 57 MBGenre: Blues RAR 3% Rec. Label: Alligator Records (ALCD 2700)These sixteen tracks are split equally between Sonny Boy Williamson II and pianist Willie Love, who befriended each other in the early 40s, and recorded a number of sides for Trumpet records. All eight Sonny Boy-numbers are previously unreleased, and the fidelity is very good, better than on Trumpet's other Sonny Boy Williamson-releases.
Sao Paulo Kenny Dorham
Rice Miller (Sonny Boy) is backed by various electric combos. Three cuts feature Willie Love on piano, and Miller's harp blowing is augumented by the presence of a saxophone player on five tracks. Here are early vesions of 'Keep It To Yourself' and 'I'm Not Beggin' Nobody', as well as a great 'Shuckin' Mama' and the piano-driven boogie of the title track.
And it's no surprise that Miller's playing and singing is every bit as impressive as on his later Chess releases. Benny Carter - Benny Carter 4: Montreux '77 (1977) Reissue 2003EAC Rip FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 299 MB MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 116 MB Covers (7 MB) includedGenre: Jazz RAR 3% Rec.
Label: Pablo/Fantasy (OJC20 374-2)For this concert at the 1977 Montreux Jazz Festival, Benny Carter was in his musical prime, a condition he has thus far stayed at for over 65 years. Joined by the Ray Bryant Trio, the altoist romps through seven standards and plays some tasteful trumpet on 'Body and Soul,' proving once again that he is really is ageless; Carter was nearly 70 years old at the time.
William Clarke - Blowin' Like Hell (1990)EAC Rip FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 300 MB MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 113 MB Covers - 32 MBGenre: Blues RAR 3% Rec. Label: Alligator Records (ALCD 4788)The title says it all. William Clarke cooks on Blowin' Like Hell, his first CD. And these are new sounds. Songs like 'Lollipop Mama,' 'Gambling for My Bread,' and 'Lonesome Bedroom Blues' (all written by Clarke) are just great tunes.
'Must Be Jelly' won Clarke a W.C. Handy Award for blues song of the year in 1991. You'll find yourself humming them. Clarke's timing and music are right on the money, with the great Alex Schultz on lead guitar. There is no doubt that Clarke is one of the few modern bluesmen who are exploring and extending the amplified blues harp tradition without violating any of its principles.
No one plays chromatic blues harp with this kind of passion and sheer conviction. Carmen McRae - Fine and Mellow Recorded 1980-1988 (2000)EAC Rip FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 626 MB MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 278 MB Covers - 33 MBGenre: Vocal Jazz RAR 3% Rec. Label: Snapper Music (SMDCD255)One of the best ever jazz singers, her dramatic and nuanced readings of standards put her at the forefront of vocal jazz.Carmen McRae always had a nice voice (if not on the impossible level of an Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughan) but it was her behind-the-beat phrasing and ironic interpretations of lyrics that made her most memorable. She studied piano early on and had her first important job singing with Benny Carter's big band (1944), but it would be another decade before her career had really gained much momentum.
Salva - Left To Burn (2007)EAC Rip FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 397 MB MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 134 MB Covers includedGenre: Progressive Rock RAR 3% Rec. Label: Perand KB Records (PKBCD0005)Salva's sophomore release is a clear statement of the band's increasing musical maturity. It's more refined than their debut, and the band has apparently found its niche. Left To Burn is more focused and refined, and the instrumental and vocal performances are measurably enhanced - but you won't find quite the devil-may-care variety we saw in A Handful Of Earth. Imagine third-wave progressive rock with strong Jethro Tull influences and a strong 1970s prog influence and you'll have a good idea of what to expect.
The lineup is the traditional rock ensemble, but the fact the band is now a quintet rather than a trio also plays into its more established sound. Rich textures are added by 'Trons, Moogs and Hammonds, mandolin, flute (samples) and French accordion. Michael E & Tim Gelo - Bring It Back (2019)WEB FLAC (tracks) - 415 MB MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 169 MB Front coverGenre: Chillout, Downtempo, Lounge RAR 3% Rec. Label: LemongrassmusicLemongrassmusic present the collaboration album of UK born and Mallorca Island-based Chillout music producer Michael E and Berlin-based Trumpet player and producer Tim Gelo (alias Velvet Dreamer).
The idea for the album 'Bring It Back' accrued when the two musicians became aware of the sheer number of beautiful collaboration tracks that they had been creating during the past few years. Michael has been loving Tim’s playing ever since he knew him and after they started their working partnership he felt that it always takes his music to another level.
Tim is playing Trumpet, Muted Trumpet, Flugelhorn and Whisper Trumpet. The 11 tracks have a very relaxed and emotional feel and were created to make you enjoy the present moment and the place where you are. Padre - From Faraway Island (2012)EAC Rip FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 282 MB MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 99 MB Covers - 25 MBGenre: Crossover Progressive Rock RAR 3% Rec. Label: Lynx Music (LM76CD)The group Padre is an initiative of the pianist and composer Krzysztof Lepiarczyk, who is also known as the band leader of Loonypark and Sticky Hands.
He brought together some of his friends from Krakow, Maciej Tomczyk (guitars and bass) and drummer Grzegorz Fieber to provide the music, and invited singer Marek Smelkowski (Liquid Shadows) to complete the line-up. Work on the album took place mainly in Krakow, but Marek's contributions were recorded in his studio in Koscian. In the song 'Last Words' he duets with another singer from the town of Koscian, Julia Stolpe. Marek provides all of melodic vocal lines and lyrics for their debut, 'From Faraway Island' which was released by Lynx Music on 21st December 2012.

Label: Cuneiform Records (Rune 182/183)Cuneiform's issue of several previously unreleased live recordings from the 1970s editions of the Chris McGregor big band (commencing with the brilliant Travelling Somewhere) has stirred up some powerful memories, especially among Brits and Europeans old enough to have seen the group live. More to the point, it has also served to introduce a whole new generation of jazz fans to the unique qualities of the Brotherhood, which was made up of a multi-racial assortment of South African expats who combined African hi-life, kwela, and township jive with both traditional and avant-garde American big band jazz. Beyond that, the special significance of the group in Great Britain was related to its arrival from South Africa at a time of great musical ferment, when young British (and European) players were absorbing the lessons of American jazz innovators such as John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler, and Sun Ra. Label: Sub RosaEdited and mixed between Montreal and Paris, 'From Somewhere Invisible' summons the fever of experimentation and the powerful sound of the game coming together in the service of a luxuriant and psychedelic drift.
Synthetic brass meets hammered rhythms, string electrics with cracked electronics, saxophone cries and laughter at a pulsing and seminal bass.

I guess I ought to post my own list – gosh, difficult, isn’t it? Mine doesn’t get even close to the Dottor Jazz’s A-listers, or some of our colleagues, but then I am a late starter. All thought to be “original” US or 1st UK release, mono unless otherwise stated. It was very hard for me, picking 10 records I’d desperately would love to have.

I decided to exclude the Blue Notes to shed some light on maybe overlooked albums. All are Mono unless otherwise noted. I’m sure some people will have some pretty impressive stuff, but here are a few of mine. Only a handful here that have some some sort of a smug / envy factor.

I did cheat and included two blues albums. Hard to choose which ones to list (I have some Dolphy’s, Coltrane’s, Mobley’s, Bill Evans’, Randy Weston’s, Jackie Mclean’s, Sun Ra’s etc.). I’m afraid this exercise will expose how small-time the highly opinionated DG Mono really is.
But I’m gonna be fair here and play along, no matter what the humiliation. I would like to preface by saying that, although I love this stuff and can’t get enough of it, I believe I am relatively young for this hobby, and seeing that I am not yet a career-oriented individual in my professional life, I can only afford so much.
